Geoff is a completely self taught Artist who took the
decision to change his career to satisfy his creative needs.

The advent of a serious motorcycle accident finished his
engineering career and gave him the time to think about
becoming an artist. Inspired by the watercolour work of
Rowland Hilder, Geoff changed from working in oils and
other mediums and found his own inspiration from his
work. What transpired was a style of watercolours in the
Realist form and marked Geoffs paintings out amongst
the crowd.

With several exhibitions during the first few years drawing
widespread acclaim he was commissioned by Whatman
Ltd to help promote their paper worldwide resulting in
commissions from Japan, Germany and America.

In 1987 Geoff was asked to become a fellow of the
RSA and was nominated by three fellow artists and
sucessfully acepted. This led to him exhibiting in better
Galleries and painting in new areas.
|
He swept the board on his first attempt at the National
British Watercolour Show at Ilkley, winning First prize
and the Daily Mail Prize for best Painting and was made
an assocaite of the British Watercolour Society. At
the next show which was held there he did it again at the
Britsh Society of Painters Show and with the top prize
again he was promoted to full member of the BWS.
|
This was becoming a major sucess for Geoff and yes, on
his third attempt he did it again. He was made a Fellow of
the International Guild of Artists which was limited to
only twelve members worldwide. This whirlwind of wins
was too much and Geoff was asked to head the first G-
Mex Art show in Manchester with a stunning roll call of
Artists including David Shepherd and Terance Cuneo.
|
Geoff Turned later to other Major competitions and
won a prize in the Laing Art competition of publics vote
for best painting. A year later he was runner up and won
a major prize in the same Landscape and Seascape
competition leading to some exciting commissions.

Friedlander Art show and been accepted twice in the
Not the Turner Prize Show.
